I think my neighbour has abandoned their property
First, go and knock on your neighbour’s door and wait to see if there is any answer. If you see any of your other neighbours out and about, it’s always worth asking them if they have noticed or seen anything.
If you haven’t seen your neighbour in a while there could be a reasonable explanation. However, if you have any other concerns that your neighbour might be missing or at any risk, you need to report this directly to the police.
If you believe your neighbour is not at risk and has abandoned the property, then report this directly to us. If you have concerns about any crime happening at an empty property such as vandalism, report this to the police first, and then contact us when you have a crime or incident number.
To enable us to investigate this, we need to know the following information:
- What is the property address?
- When did you last see your neighbour or anyone at the property?
- Have you heard or seen anyone moving things out of the house like furniture or seen any removal vans?
- Do you know where your neighbour might have gone?
Send this to us via email enquiries@futureshg.co.uk so our neighbourhoods team can investigate this. Please include your contact number and your name so we can get in touch with you to give you an update.
