A socket or switch isn't working 

Firstly, turn all the switches off on the affected socket, unplug any appliances and do not use it. You could try plugging the appliance into a different socket that you know is working just to make sure it's not the appliance that's faulty.

If the socket that isn’t working is in the kitchen below the worktop, for example for a fridge or washing machine, please make sure you’ve checked that the spur/switch above the worktop is also turned on. These should be labelled with an appliance name on it and can be sometimes be turned off by mistake, which means the socket below the counter won’t work.
