None of the radiators will turn off

Make sure the room thermostat is turned down or the programmer is turned off. What type of boiler do you have?

I’ve got a combi boiler

If you have a combi boiler, you might have a battery-operated programmer/thermostat. Sometimes when the batteries in the programmer fail, the heating will come on, even if it's turned off. This shows the batteries may need changing. Change the batteries with good quality batteries like Duracell as cheaper batteries won’t work as well. There are various types of battery powered programmers, so how you remove them from the wall can vary.

With Baxi programmers located on a wall, you will have to put a flat headed screwdriver in the slot underneath and twist, the front should pop off.

Danfoss programmers have a single slot underneath. Insert a screwdriver or a similar object into the slot and push upwards. The programmer should pop off.

If the programmer or thermostat is mains powered, do not touch it.

Alternatively, you can turn the heating thermostat down on the boiler, and this will also stop all the radiators getting hot. Remember to turn it back up when you want the heating on again.

I’ve got a heat only boiler (which means you will also have a cylinder for hot water in your airing cupboard and tanks in your loft)

If the boiler is heat only, this type of fault could mean there’s an issue with the motorised valve in the airing cupboard.

If you can’t solve the problem, you can isolate each radiator using the thermostatic radiator valves, if fitted, on all the radiators you don’t want on.
