How are my rent payments calculated if I've paid rent in advance?
Before moving into your new home, you will have been asked to pay some rent in advance. This is to make sure that you have paid some rent, so you aren’t behind on your rent straight away, or what we call rent arrears. You should aim to be 4 weeks in advance with your rent.
I’m paying by Direct Debit
You should have made a rent in advance payment before you signed for the property. If you have filled the Direct Debit form out, then we will start taking the rent payments on your preferred date. However, it can take a few weeks to process this therefore the rent in advance payment will be covering your rent until we take your first Direct Debit.
Your direct debit amount is calculated over a 52-week year period and your rent-free weeks are taken into account in this calculation. The payments are also calculated to get you 4 weeks in advance with your rent to avoid you falling into any rent arrears.
